I’ve own numerous Valiant’s since I was 19 and my first valiant was a 1971 Charger. I aways liked the shape and muscle car look of the Chargers and acquired this one more than 25 years ago. I fully stripped it down and started with cutting out and replacing rust sections, in the usual places.
With family comments, the restoration was slow. In the last two years I started to finalise the bodywork.
Fitted the guards, boot, bonnet and had the external repainted in August last year. I then started reassembling it, original motor/gearbox, rebuilt front end, all new brakes, new hood lining, carpet and refitted trim. Got the engine running early this year and had it registered April this year.
I joined a car club on the Gold Coast – SCARAB first meeting them last year at Cooly Rocks On at Coolangatta. I attend most of their events and also car shows that they are participating in.
